Code of Conduct

Last updated: May 2023

At Revolution Cycling Club Incorporated, we strive to create a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members. We expect every club member to adhere to this Code of Conduct during all club events, rides, and activities.

Respect and Inclusion

We are committed to treating all members, participants, and volunteers with respect, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or cycling ability. We embrace diversity and foster an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates our shared love for cycling.

Safety is a top priority. All members are expected to observe traffic rules and regulations, use appropriate safety gear, ensure their equipment is in good working condition, stay attentive to their surroundings, and communicate clearly with other riders. Any hazards or safety concerns should be immediately reported to the ride leader or event organiser.

Riding Etiquette

Good riding etiquette is essential during group rides. This includes riding predictably, communicating intentions to others, following designated hand signals and verbal cues, being mindful of speed, and maintaining appropriate spacing between riders. Members are also expected to offer help and support to fellow riders when needed.

No Harassment or Bullying

Respect for personal boundaries is crucial. Harassment, bullying, or any form of discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated. All individuals should be treated with kindness, and no actions or speech that may cause discomfort, harm, or distress to others will be tolerated.

Alcohol and Substance Use

The use of alcohol or any illegal substances before or during club events or rides is strictly prohibited. These substances can impair judgement and compromise safety. Responsible and respectful consumption of alcohol is allowed after club activities.

Environmental Responsibility

We are committed to preserving the natural environment. This includes avoiding littering, minimising our impact on cycling routes and trails, respecting wildlife, vegetation, and private property, and promoting responsible cycling practices that foster sustainability and respect for nature.

Communication and Conflict Resolution

We encourage open and constructive communication among club members. Any concerns or conflicts should be addressed promptly and respectfully, with a focus on finding solutions that benefit the entire club. Club leaders are available for guidance when necessary.

Compliance with Laws

All members are expected to observe and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and traffic rules during club events and rides. Awareness of local cycling regulations is crucial to ensure the safety of oneself and others.

Consequences of Violations

Any violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions. These can range from verbal warnings to temporary suspension from club activities, or in severe cases, permanent expulsion from the club, at the discretion of the club committee.

By participating in Revolution Cycling Club Incorporated events or rides, you acknowledge your commitment to upholding this Code of Conduct and contributing to a positive and inclusive club environment. This Code of Conduct is in conjunction with our Ride Rules and Guidelines and is meant to foster a safe, respectful, and enjoyable cycling experience for all members.
